Browsa vs Browserbase

Browserbase is the larger platform, with compliance certifications and a cheaper browser-hour. Browsa is pay as you go, with realistic fingerprints on every pack and hosted agent tasks that run on your own model key.

Last checked: 7 November 2026

The short version. Per browser-hour, Browsa costs more than Browserbase. Browsa makes sense when your usage is spiky, you would rather not pay a monthly fee, or you want fingerprints and hosted agent tasks without moving up a plan. If you need SOC 2, HIPAA, built-in proxies or CAPTCHA solving, Browserbase is the better fit today.

Which one fits

Where Browsa fits better

  • No monthly feeYou buy credits when you need them and they never expire. A quiet month costs nothing; a busy week draws down what you already bought.
  • Fingerprints on every packThe 100 free credits get the same Chromium build as the $500 pack. We publish where it passes and where it misses on the benchmarks page.
  • Hosted agent tasks on your own keySend a task in plain language with your Anthropic or OpenAI key, self-serve. The key is encrypted for the run and deleted when it ends. No key? Use Browsa's model for 5 more credits.
  • Schedules and webhooks built inRun a task every hour, every day or once a month, and get each result on an HMAC-signed webhook. No scheduler of your own to run.
  • Low, uneven volumeA hundred or so short sessions a month cost a little less on credits than a monthly plan, and a month you skip costs nothing. See the second example below.

Where Browserbase fits better

  • Cheaper browser-hours at steady volume$0.10 to $0.12 an hour beyond the included hours, billed by the minute. For hundreds of hours a month, Browserbase costs less.
  • Compliance and procurementSOC 2 Type II, HIPAA with a BAA, a DPA and SSO. If your security review needs these, Browsa cannot meet it today.
  • Longer sessions and more concurrencySessions up to 6 hours on paid plans and 100 concurrent browsers on Startup, 250+ on Scale. Browsa caps sessions at 1 hour.
  • Proxies and CAPTCHA solving includedPaid plans include proxy bandwidth and automatic CAPTCHA solving. With Browsa you bring your own proxy and handle CAPTCHAs yourself.
  • A wider ecosystemStagehand is an open-source SDK with a large community, and the platform adds Fetch, Search, Functions and integrations with frameworks such as LangChain, CrewAI and Mastra.

What a month costs

Two workloads, browser time only. Proxy bandwidth, CAPTCHA solves and model tokens are left out because Browsa does not sell them.

A steady month: 1,000 five-minute sessions and 100 one-hour sessions

That is about 183 browser-hours. On Browsa it is 1,000 × 1 credit plus 100 × 5 credits, so 1,500 credits.

OptionMonthlyHow
Browserbase FreeNot enough1 browser-hour and 15-minute sessions1
Browserbase Developer$30.00$20 plan with 100 hours, plus 83.3 hours × $0.121
Browserbase Startup$99.00500 hours included, so no overage1
Browsa, Starter rate$150.001,500 credits × $0.10
Browsa, Pro rate$100.001,500 credits × $0.067, from the $500 pack

Browserbase bills by the minute2, so the one-hour sessions and five-minute sessions are metered at their real length. Browsa bills per session: 1 credit up to 5 minutes, 5 credits up to 1 hour. Browsa figures use the per-credit rate; packs come in $20, $100 and $500 and unused credits carry over.

Here Browserbase is cheaper. For this workload Browsa costs 3 to 5 times as much as Browserbase Developer. If your volume looks like this every month and you do not need the agent or schedule features, Browserbase is the better deal on price.

A quiet month: 150 five-minute sessions, nothing else

About 12.5 browser-hours, or 150 credits on Browsa.

OptionMonthlyHow
Browserbase FreeNot enough1 browser-hour included1
Browserbase Developer$20.00Within the 100 included hours1
Browsa, first month$20.00100 free credits plus a $20 pack for the other 50; 150 credits carry over
Browsa, after that$15.00150 credits × $0.10, and nothing in a month you do not run

Unused Browsa credits carry over. Agent tasks add their step credits on top: a 10-step task is 8 credits on your own model key, 13 on Browsa's.

Questions

Is Browsa cheaper than Browserbase?

Usually not for steady browser time. Browserbase's included hours and $0.10 to $0.12 overage make each hour cheaper than Browsa's 5 credits a session. Browsa can cost less when usage is low or uneven, because there is no monthly plan to pay in the months you barely use it.

Will my Playwright or Puppeteer code move over?

Yes. Both give you a Chromium browser over CDP. Create a Browsa browser, then pass its cdp_http address and an X-API-Key header to chromium.connect_over_cdp() in Playwright or puppeteer.connect(). Features tied to one platform, such as Browserbase contexts or Browsa saved identities, need their own small change.

Does Browsa have SOC 2 or HIPAA?

No, not today. Browserbase states SOC 2 Type II and offers a HIPAA BAA on its Scale plan. If your security review requires either, choose Browserbase.

Does Browsa provide proxies or solve CAPTCHAs?

No. You can bring any HTTP or SOCKS5 proxy per browser, and the browser's timezone and language follow the proxy's country. Browsa does not solve CAPTCHAs; your code sees the challenge and decides what to do. Browserbase includes proxy bandwidth and CAPTCHA solving on paid plans.

How do hosted agent tasks compare?

On Browsa a task costs 5 credits for the browser, plus 1, plus 1 for every 5 steps, so a 10-step task is 8 credits, or 13 on Browsa's hosted model. You can bring your own key without asking. Browserbase Agents include 3, 15 or 50 runs a month by plan, and its docs say to contact them for your own model key.

What do I get for free?

Browsa gives 100 credits once you verify your email: about 100 five-minute browsers, or 20 one-hour browsers. Browserbase's Free plan gives 1 browser-hour with 15-minute sessions and 3 Agent runs.
